TOP-BAND+ WebSDR - List of Known Bugs

Many thanks for taking the time to report a bug. Please note, I can only rectify CLIENT-side bugs not SERVER-side.
To avoid duplicates, please check this list BEFORE posting your report on the chat box:

(1) Sound-Related Bugs & Workarounds: Click this link for Bugs Affecting Sound

(2) S-Meter Fault on 80m & 40m:

SYMPTOMS: the S-meter stops reading when a user tunes on 80m above 3735.98 kHz and on 40m above 7135.98 kHz

CAUSE: this bug is in the server software written and supplied by Pieter PA3FWM. It only occurs when it is necessary for a sysop to use a gain equalisation file to linearise the frequency response of the IQ stream being fed into the server

WORKAROUNDS:
(a) sysop removes the eq file to make the S-Meter work properly. I could do this but the compromise would be a non linear frequency spectrum - a large hump in the centre of the affected band(s)
(b) sysop buys a new SDR that doesn't need the IQ stream equalising - I think you know the answer to that one :)

LONG TERM RESOLUTION: Pieter is already aware of this bug. He assures me that it is fixed in the next server software update. Until then, I prefer NOT to compromise the spectrum display and to live with the S-meter bug until Pieter releases his next update

(3) Occasional Breakup of the Waterfall:

SYMPTOMS: a band may occasionally be de-sensitised and/or a VERY strong station may appear wide and on multiple frequencies. Sometimes accompanied by broad-band lines on waterfall

CAUSE: Overload of the receiver caused by very close proximity transmitter. I may be transmitting. Or in particular, G3UHN, G4OAV, M0UKR & M0ABY are within 1/2 mile of this QTH and overload the SDR. They also adversely affect my FTdx5000 - the relatively cheap SDR's don't really stand a chance ;) Please note, these stations are NOT actually wide or splattering.

WORKAROUND: please be patient, these stations are not particulary active and tend to make short transmissions. Alternatively you could use another band/WebSDR

(4) Selected Display Height reverts to medium after changing any 'Band Display' button:

UPDATE: 27/11/2018, I have now traced and fixed this bug - please report any further problems with display height

SYMPTOMS: This can happen if you have selected either "short" or "tall" and then subsequently use any of the "Band Display" buttons.
These symptoms are NOT present when "Blind" is selected

CAUSE: this bug is in the original client (probably the Javascript) written and supplied by Pieter PA3FWM. All WebSDR's using dist 11 have the same bug.

WORKAROUND: click once on any Display Height Contol. The height will change to the required setting.

(5) Frequency Information Markers (clickable orange tags) Missing:

UPDATE: 30/05/2018, I think I have now traced and fixed this bug - please report any further problems with band labels

SYMPTOMS: frequency information markers (orange tags) may not be visible on some bands when viewing "all bands". This can often happen after "hide waterfall labels" has been unchecked.
These symptoms are NOT present when viewing only "one band"

CAUSE: this bug is in the client (probably the Javascript) written and supplied by Pieter PA3FWM. All WebSDR's using dist 11 have the same bug.

WORKAROUND: click once on the waterfall area of an affected band. The missing tags will re-appear.
